Advanced Safety and Rescue Skills Class Posted for July 13th!Join us for this single day course teaching advanced techniques for safety and rescue. This course builds on the common skills and techniques taught in the basic rescue course; but adds additional skills useful in more difficult water or situations. Students should be experienced in basic rescue and have Class III whitewater skills or be actively working on a Class III rating since much of the class involves practicing techniques in bigger, pushier water. There is no charge for this course, but registration is required. To sign up or find out more about this outstanding opportunity, visit our website's trip listings, and contact the trip leaders for more information.
Volunteers Needed for Amoskeag Fishways trip on Thursday, July 10thLast year, many of our members helped out on a series of trips (organized by Helen Dalbeck) that the Amoskeag Fishways Center and Audubon Center hosted for girls from "Girls, Inc." to study dragonflies on the Merrimack River in Manchester and Hooksett. (Remember the presentation Helen brought to us at last year's Fall General Meeting about the Eco River Sci-Girls Program?) Well, the Fishways is hosting a group of kids again this year, and they need some folks who are willing
to volunteer their time, canoes, paddling expertise, and good will. Finding and collecting dragonfly
exuvia will be part of the fun as well as paddling instruction, a riverside picnic, and probably some
swimming and birdwatching. Volunteers will help out from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, meeting at the Fishways
in Manchester and paddling up to the falls at Hooksett.
