How to Keep our River Access Points Open

by Roioli Schweiker
From the March 2000 WrapAround

A couple of years ago when we were loading up boats a good distance from the nearest house, a somewhat irate landowner came out and informed us that we were using his land, and had not asked his permission. The next year I stopped before the trip and asked for permission.

I honestly thought that we were on the highway right-of way. However this year instead of taking a lawyer, I took a cake. This is not only incredibly cheaper (particularly since it wasn't even my cake! Thanks a bucket, Judy), but it produced a very happy landowner. He came chasing out as we were loading boats to talk to us. He implored me next year to park the shuttle car in his lower driveway instead of on the road and avoid the chance of it being hit by a careless driver.
