Thoughts from the Co-ChairsBy Dennis Belliveau My head hurts, my nose is stuffed, my eyes are watery, I have a persistent cough, I feel chills running thru my body and generally weak all over. This can mean only one thing, I have the flu. Since I find it hard to believe that I could self generate this virus solely by myself, someone had to give it to me. I'd like to find out who gave it to me so I can give whomever something in return. Maybe just some friendly advice would be nice. "Go ahead there is no rebar below that dam!" Now onto more cheery and inspirational business: 1 It's still not too late to do that work on your boat. 2 A Paddling schedule - yes! Good things take time. 3 More snow = more whitewater. 4 Spring meeting it'll be nice to get together again. That's about all the cheer I have. Fortunately getting over the flu now increases my chances that I be healthy by March and paddling time. By Jeff Lamping Dennis Belliveau and our former co-chair Tom Gelinas have been very informative and helpful in bringing me up to speed in what my responsibilities are as co-chair. A co-chair for the NHAMC Paddlers has two primary duties, the first is working with the committees and members of our group, and second is working with the executive committee of the New Hampshire Chapter. Dennis and I or one of us meets with the NH AMC Chapter approximately 8 to 10 times a year. The executive committee has approximately 24 members. Approximately 1/2 are administrative ...Chairman, Vice Chair, Secretary, Finance, Hospitality, Membership, Newsletter, Webmaster, and the other 1/2 are made up of Co-chairs of Conservation, Mountaineering, Trails, and Paddlers. So far I have had the pleasure of going to the January and February executive meetings of our New Hampshire Chapter. The first meeting was a discussion/review of the plans for the Inter-Chapter Spring Meeting for the AMC at Pinkham Notch AMC Center. The second meeting was the submitting and discussions of appropriations for all the budgets including ours. At both meetings many of the executive board members expressed to me that Tom Gelinas our former co-chairman was an asset to the executive board , worked for the Paddlers Group, and increased our Out Reach programs with Public Service of New Hampshire and Conservation. |
