The morning of July 23 found us all early risers on a beach on Lake
Mead. We had put in at Lee’s Ferry 16 days before and paddled and rafted
the entire way down the Colorado River through the entire Marble Canyon
and Grand Canyon.

Ted Kennelly and Jackie Schoendorff launching at Lee’s Ferry.
We had 24 paddlers, 4 Tour West crew to man the two rafts, and a rescue
kayaker. At Lee’s Ferry we loaded up the rafts, jumped in our boats, and
immediately started paddling big class II rapids.

John Jenkins and Dick Morin tackle a rapid early in the trip.

Brian Henderson survives one wave, looks downstream for the next.

Cindy Piro and Nancy Gero paddle through some big waves.

Bruce Healey, Joe Damboise help pull raft off beach at low water.
