Paddling the Winni on New Years

By Tom Todd

John Jenkins led the AMC contingent for the Annual New Years Day paddle of the Winnipesaukee River organized by the MVP. We had a good turn out for the trip, which celebrates the clean up of the Winnipesaukee River. This is always great fun and allows all participants to answer 'yes' to the question 'You been out yet?' The MVP provides a big pasta feed after the paddle. Many NH newspapers cover the event. We thank Jim Gallagher of the NH DES for opening the dams a bit to flush the ice and give us more water. John Jenkins led the NH AMC group trip which included Walt Andry in co-leading in his C1, Chris Arne in a K1, Jay McDonnell in a K1, and myself in my OC1. There were many other AMCers there.
